Bertuzzi is a hack.

On the plus side, Milan Hejduk got his second career hat trick. Yea for him. (And yea for those other six goals *snicker*)

Oh, and did I mention Bertuzzi is a hack? *ponders how long his suspension will be*

Ok, so from what I understand is this...

The NHL does not allow any sort of retaliation against another player...in the same game.

So if it happens the next game or a week later or whatever, the league turns a blind eye. Apparently, Bertuzzi was retaliating.

...but that was not hockey. That was assault. It had nothing to do with any play whatsoever. He should be gone the rest of this season (playoffs included) and all of next season.

He should have been arrested. Either way, I'm glad to hear the Vancouver police are investigating.

Could be assault with a deadly weapon..

In a form of martial arts, there's a move where you jump on someone's back to try and break it..

Can't say whether or not that's what he was doing, but if he ever took martial arts, then yeah, assault with a deadly weapon..

Whether it was done in retaliation or not, I don't see how the league can allow something like that. You don't sucker punch someone from behind and drive their head into the ice and not anticipate them getting hurt. Like you said, that isn't hockey, that's purely an assault. I would expect Bertuzzi to be suspended at least a year. The league has to step in and say that this sort of act will not be tolerated.
