My email provider is going to be shutting down. Bleh, I've had the same email for five years too. Though I suppose it can be considered a good thing, as I have become flooded with spam mail recently. Does anyone know any good free email services?

Two decent ones.

Google is ready to offer its gmail web-based mail, which offers a gig of storage. Yahoo, in comparison, offers 4 megs. So, that's my advice. :P

Google mail/search is a big fan of setting up spywear into your computer. It is why Yahoo ditched the company.

Don't do it.

Re: google...ew.
If you have suitable virus protection on your computer, spyware won't be a problem. My virus scanner doesn't touch me. But if you have spyware issues, it's from sites you're visiting that Google might be indexing, not Google itself. Flash ads and pop-ups/pop-unders are notorious for this.

Yahoo dropped Google because it bought Inktomi, another search technology company, in order to compete directly with Google. Microsoft also has plans to develop their own search capabilities.

Yahoo and hotmail are spam nightmares. I wouldn't use those services again if my life depended on it, except perhaps if I wanted to be a junk mail collector.

Google e-mail scans your email to give you relevant text advertising.

Yahoo and hotmail stick ads in your mail too.

Use Netscape.
