I actually played the violin today, for the first time in years. Jaw and fingers were not happy with me. *snicker* And I do still know how to play! I just have to worry about getting the sharps and flats to sound right. Especially when I shift positions, I forget where my fingers are supposed to go. And, I just had to listen to The Siren, and try to figure out how that goes. I got a few parts down. Runs and solos are scary... And most of the notes are wicked high. I’ll have to try transcribing it out first. I don’t think orchestral pieces are meant to be played by ear, hehe. Oh, and I still have my electric violin. :) I forgot it was red, lol. I put a new G-string on it, since it was missing one before. (Now you can stuff dollar bills in it, yea!) However, I am in need of my own amplifier. I suppose I don’t need one just yet, but.. some day! I also might see if there is a soft cover for my chinrest. Playing didn’t bother the tightness in my jaw that comes and goes, but it does hurt pressing against my violin. Maybe I can adjust my shoulder rest so that it doesn’t slip quite so much. Otherwise, I just can’t play for a long period at a time.

Also, I may be teaching violin lessons for the daughters of a lady who was in my acting class last semester. This is what actually prompted me to take out my violin again, though I had been meaning to at some point. Her daughters are youngins who are just beginning, so it shouldn’t be too hard teaching them some basic stuff. I have even found some really old music of mine which they could use if they are ready for it. They live nearby, and I’ll be going over to their house next week to try out teaching and see how I do.
