Well, I’ve determined that I can indeed prepare a monologue successfully in a week. Was still nervous before my audition though, but it seemed to go well. The only problem was my projection, which I must work on!

Oh, so very sore. Yesterday, we worked on the body in acting class. We did stretches and all kinds of improv work with the body, including walking/running in place down a dark alley, pretending to be all kinds of animals and other crazy stuff, practicing ballet, being in an aerobics class, crawling around on the floor, and pretty much anything else you could think of. Also worked on focusing on the self, instead of being worried about “performing”; pretty much just learning to ignore the fact that there are other people out there, and just doing whatever it is you’re doing, no matter how silly it is. I think using that practice will help me get over these inhibitions that I have.

I will have to do alot of reading this weekend, choosing scenes, reading plays, and Children’s Lit. I need to get in all the homework I can while I have the time. It’s all a bit intimidating, but we’ll see if I can manage it. I made it through my audition!
