I'm going to start writing my own fantasy novel... I was going to base it on Feudal Realms and my encounters there, but then I would need to get permission to use other people's characters, etc. It would be too much of a hassle. And this way I will have a fresh start and can shape it to be however I would like it to be.

Quick poll...

Which name would be best for the main human city?

Lockhaven
7(63.6%)
Runehaven
3(27.3%)
Stonehaven
1(9.1%)
Other
0(0.0%)

My thoughts...
When I think "stone" anything in a fantasy sense I think of dwarves. You could use it but you'd need to do a good job establishing it as a human city. Runes should be mysterious, not included in names of cities (unless the city is mysterious!).

Just my two copper pieces. ;-)

Lockhaven sounds so elegant, like it has a mystery to it.. I love it.

Oh oh oh oh oh. A few ideas and tips from some of my previous writing experiences.

Draw out a map, nothing pretty, but make sure that you have a firm knowledge of where things are. Maybe if you're good and artsy, draw out your interpretations of each race. I even do that with my characters, I have fact sheets where I put in info about main events that come up in each one's lives..

*smiles* And let me read it as you go! I'd love to proofread and do some criticism.

Lockhaven. Runehaven would be, like, an elven city... Stonehaven would be dwarven, or something. Or goblin-ish. I dunno. And, Lockhaven is a really good name. Two of my thumbs -up-.

That sounds like a great idea =) I'm going to buy it as soon as it gets published =D
