What to audition for...
There’s a role for children’s theatre in downtown Littleton. “Lauren (Alto) Leader, smart, ‘Miss Goody Two Shoes’”. I need a one-minute monologue and a short a capella song. Hm... now what could I do that would work for children’s theatre? Will likely go down there to look at a script sometime soon. Rehearsals and performances are set to be held during daytime hours. Hopefully I can get myself up early enough if it pans out. Oh, and roles are paid, too. Whee! (Aug. 28, 5-8pm, show runs Nov. 21-Dec. 5)

They’re doing a production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in Lakewood. Don’t know what all roles there are available. I’ll have to call or email to see if they’re still doing auditions, cause it doesn’t list a particular date. Also, “Actors must provide their own costuming and sell show tickets to offset cost.” Hm. I’ve got some things for costumes that could probably work. (Show runs Nov. 3, 4, and 5)

And, there’s a production of Boy’s Life going on at the same place in Lakewood. They need 4 men and 6 women, ages 20-40. I need a comedic monologue. And actors will receive a modest stipend. Will have to look up the play to see if I’d be a good fit for any particular role. (Aug. 20, 4-6pm, show runs Oct. 13-Nov. 11)

Also, RRCC will be producing The Bad Seed. Looked it up, and I could probably try out for the mother or teacher. 1-2 minute dramatic monologue, preferably from the script. (Sept. 6 and 7, 7pm, show runs Nov. 3-19)

And there are a couple theatres looking for actors for the season, but they are both in Arvada, which is a bit of a distance to drive. And, am I ready to commit myself to that? Hm, not sure. The one says it is geared toward giving more inexperienced actors a place to learn and grow, so that might be a possibility. Will have to see.
