Yeah, still don’t know what to do with my play. We ran out of time last class and didn’t get a chance to read the first four pages which I’ve finished. And my teacher took home a copy and was going to give me some feedback, but I haven’t heard from her yet. So... don’t know what I want to do or where to go with it. I’m not really happy with what I have so far. Don’t know how to turn it into a play. I like these characters, and the message I want to get across is these bad, messed up folk aren’t so bad. I want the audience to care about these characters and hope they can turn their lives around. In a longer work (like the novel I had originally planned to write about these characters) I could better illustrate their struggles and emergence as better people, as well as the other plot twists I want to throw in. But I have ten minutes and have to make it feel complete. I don’t know, the more I think about it, the more it seems like it will only end up feeling like a beginning. We introduce the characters and leave off wondering if their plans to turn their lives around will work. I guess I could always turn it into a longer play too, with the other scenes taking place at different stages along their journey. Eh, I guess I’ll keep writing and see how this turns out.
